Today is our day of prayer. I hope you lifted your voice up to God earlier today. I am sharing now a prayer I wrote for those facing the chaos of our days. 

Almighty God, who created life out of chaos we pray to you now that you will calm the storms of our days. We are facing many storms during this time, storms of fear, of racism, of illness and disease, of greed and hate, along with the forces of nature. 

As the fires burn out west and smoke rises we pray for the safety of all living creatures. The destruction has been and continues to be devastating.  Be with all the first responders working to save lives and land as well as all who have suffered loss. 

This evening we especially lift up those in the path of hurricane Sally. As the hurricane approaches the gulf states be with those in its path may they find safety and shelter from the storm. 

God calm the chaos of our land we pray. Amen.
