From the Pastor’s Desk

I just had to share this sweet picture of my daughter, Madeline, and Stevie, our organist Praba’s son, from Sunday.  They are so sweet and have become fast friends. If you know them you know they are pretty different, for starters one is a boy and the other is a girl, one is older than the other, and one is originally from India while the other has never been outside of America.  Their personalities are different as well. Madeline is very shy and Stevie is outgoing. Yet, it didn’t take them long at all to become friends.

Madeline has a song book that has a little song in it called Make New Friends.  It goes,

Make new friends,

But keep the old.

One is silver,

The other is gold.

A circle is round,

It has no end.

That’s how long,

I will be your friend.

It is a sweet little song with lyrics that date back to the 1920’s.  It is true we should make new friends even if they are people that might be very different from us.  Stevie has been a blessing to Madeline! New people are a blessing and can enrich our lives as well as the life of the church.  Let us be open to new friends and pray that we can bless their lives just as much as they bless ours. Rev. Melissa
