From The Pastor’s Desk

Pastors-Desk

This past Sunday I was blessed to witness the church being the church during worship.  Praba, our organist, was sick and couldn’t make it to church. Not one person was upset just concerned about Prabas’ health.  We rallied together and picked out 3 new hymns that everyone would know and that we could sing acapella.

The closing hymn was Amazing Grace.  I know I have said it before but, Amazing Grace is one of my favorite hymns.  It is a special hymn to many people. As we sang Amazing Grace one of our regular visitors became emotional.  She was sitting alone, but I saw a member leave her pew and go and stand beside her and then the member hugged her and bore her burdens for at least one stanza of the hymn maybe longer.  She told me as she was leaving that the song brought back memories from loved ones funerals and she was flooded with emotions. I understand that since we sang Amazing Grace at my father’s funeral.

Ephesians 4:1-2 says, “I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”  It was a blessing to witness the church living out our calling to be gentle, patient, loving, and to bear another’s burdens! Thank you church for being the church! Rev.Melissa
