Dear Church Family,
I wanted to let you know that earlier this week the session met via e-mail to discuss the current situation and make a discussion about worship. The session unanimously agreed to wait on resuming in person worship services and church activities. This decision was not taken lightly for we all miss our church family and gathering together for worship, study, and fellowship.
We are not setting a date to reopen, but will be in contact to discuss the situation as things evolve and change. We are looking to health professionals, state and national guidelines, as well as church best practices.
A couple of reasons that brought us to this decision are as follows. Currently, there is a limit on gatherings which would make it hard for all of us to return safely practicing social distancing. We want to follow directives put in place that show it is safer when numbers of covid-19 cases decline in an area which is not the case in the mid-south at this point. Most importantly we feel obligated to show love and care for one another and our community which means we will do all we can to stop the spread of the disease.
When we do meet again our new normal will look a bit different. We will social distance, clean surfaces, greet each other with words only, wear masks, and communion and offering time will be done in a safer manner. Change is not easy, but we will do what we need to do for the safety of all.
Until we meet again know that you are loved and missed by your church family. The sermon, special music, and Sunday School lesson will be posted on the website, emailed, put on social media, or mailed. Please continue to reach out to one another and keep the church, world, and all who suffer in your prayers. If you or someone you know are in need of food or masks please let me or one of the session members know and we will help. Stay safe so that we all may gather together again!
In Christ,
Rev.Melissa
