Greetings to you on this the Lord’s Day. It is definitely summertime in the mid-south! It has been hot, the humidity has been high, and we have had rain. It must be summer.
Summer is a time when the pace of life slows down for many people especially those with school age children and grandchildren. It is a time we give ourselves permission to rest and hopefully even relax a little. In today’s scripture reading the Apostles are in need of a bit of rest and Jesus calls them away with him for a bit of R&R. However, just because it is summer and just because we need rest it isn’t always easily found. May we make a little time for Sabbath rest in our lives even when rest is hard to come by.
